Coping with Stress
Exam season is upon us and with it all the stress and pressure it brings! Many find the burden too much to bear and are overcome with negativity which adversely affects their performance. Staying positive can increase productivity and boost results, but is it easier said than done? Here are some ways Muslims can lessen stress and increase positivity.
Salaah: “The shortest distance between a problem and a solution is the distance between your knees and the floor. The one who kneels to the Almighty can stand up to anything.”
Salaah is the ultimate source of peace and a means of seeking help from our Creator. Turn to Him in your times of need and He will never fail you.
Quran: Increase recitation of the Quran. It will revitalise and rejuvenate you and strengthen your bond with the Lord Almighty. It is a cure for all ailments as Allah mentions in the Quran: “Oh mankind! There has come to you a good advice from your Lord (i.e. the Quran), and a healing for that which is in your breasts, – a guidance and a mercy for the believers.” (Yunus 10:57).
Remembrance of Allah: Mention Allah frequently and you will attain peace and contentment as it says in the Quran: “Those who believe, and whose hearts find satisfaction in the remembrance of Allah: for without doubt in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find satisfaction. (Ar Ra’d 13:28)
Give Charity: Giving sadaqah gives relief in times of hardship. Helping someone out makes one feel good and grants relief to the heart.
Finally, put your trust in Allah and know that He will do what is best for you.
May Allah the Almighty grant all those with exams ease and success and may we all pass the greatest and ultimate exam of all! Ameen.
